Weekend Recap

Hiiii.

I know what you are thinking? I am lame for not posting.

I am tired/busy/lazy/cleaning up/cooking and will try to get back on track!

I was lucky enough to have this weekend off and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My hubs and I spent Friday night watching "Date Night" with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. I thought the movie had a lot of funny parts but sometimes I got a little bored.

Saturday morning, my favorite cupcake spot posted on Facebook about a Leftover Alert. You get 24 of the day before's cupcakes for $20 (normally $50). I called immediately and got them!!! Woot woot. It even included my chocolate peanutbutter cupcake AKA the orgasm cupcake!!! YES! Hahaha.

Hubs decided we needed a nice dinner, so he took me to Biaggi's. It is a really yummy Italian restaurant in the area. The food is amazing! And they always play jazz :) I had Shrimp and Crab Canneloni and I got to wear my new dress...
I felt pretty spiffy!

Today was a super lazy day... went to the grocery store together and took a nap. Tonight we are going to grill some hotdogs and weed the veggie garden.

Good times!

This coming Saturday, I am headed to Vermont to spend time with my favorite babies!!! Ok, they aren't babies anymore which is so sad. I am hanging out with the boys I nannied for for almost 5 years. They are 7, 5 and 3. Cannot wait to see them!!!

Oh and my friend, Kellie, is having a blog giveaway... check it out!

Did anyone else see it?

I cried and afterwards, I felt so emotionally drained. It is over. :(

Straight Teeth

Straight teeth are something I have always wanted. In fact, I even had braces for a while when I was growing up. Unfortunately, I had to get them removed before treatment was done because of the cost. It was so hard and I remember that day vividly.

Part of the reason I remember the day so well is because the Orthodontist embarrassed me so badly! He asked me "What do you want to do when you grow up?" and I replied "I think I want to do something in the dental field. Maybe a hygienist!". His reply? "Oh, so you care about other people's teeth but not your own?". I almost cried... he just thought I was some bratty kid who wanted to get my braces off. That couldn't have been farther from the truth!!

Well, about 8 weeks ago I made an appointment with a local orthodontist. We talked about regular, metal braces and the more I thought about it, the more I didn't really want to wear them... I'm 26 years old. Not that anything is wrong with people who wear braces later in life. I just don't have the self confidence!

I ended up going with Invisalign for just my top teeth and I picked them up yesterday! I will have 10 different trays and have to wear each one for 2 weeks. They gave me my first 4 trays and I will have to go back in 8 weeks to check on my progress and get my remaining trays.
Wearing my invisalign! You can barely see it!

I am so excited but my mouth hurts soooo badly! Most it is annoyingly sore. Beauty is pain! It is kind of hard to get them off my teeth as well. I feel like I'm going to pull my teeth off. Ha!

I can drink water while wearing them but have to take them off to drink anything else. I think that will help me keep up my water in take for sure... I just hate taking them off!

Just had to share my excitement!! Has anyone else had braces or invisalign?

Drinks of Summer!

What are your favorite drinks for the summer?

Well, my number one is WATER. I drink about 64 oz/day and have noticed such a great difference in my skin because of this. I sometimes squeeze a whole lemon in my water bottle just so I'm not bored. Thankfully, my body really craves water so I am pretty much never bored with it.

My other summer fave is sweet iced tea. I make it southern style, just like my Mama. It is super sweet but s'good on a hot, summer day! It lasts for a while too since my Hubs doesn't drink it.

As far as alcohol beverages go, I have a few, top summer faves....

Mojitos. Can you say "yum"?

312. Nice, wheat ale. Guess why it is called 312? :)

Samuel Smith Organic Strawberry Ale. Delicious, smooth and reminds me of drinking kool aide in the hot Florida sun in my youth. The bottle is pretty too.

Please comment and share your drinks of choice... Alcoholic or non. :) Have a great day!

Netflix

Ok, I am so late on this.

I got Netflix Instant for Christmas and today I got the regular plan where they send you movies too. You have no idea how excited I am about this!!!

My dear Husband is not a movie person. He hates most movies so unfortunately, I don't end up seeing many. Plus, movie tix are expensive so I definitely don't see them in the theatre (unless it is something amazing like HP or Twilight- haha!).

I just set up my queue and here are my top picks:

  • Due Date
  • The Social Network
  • The King's Speech
  • The Black Swan
  • Date Night
  • Sex and the City 2
  • Love and Other Drugs
  • Tangled
  • Despicable Me
  • How To Train Your Dragon
  • Blue Valentine

Any other movies I should see? I also plan on getting all of the seasons of SATC, Daria, Road to Avonlea and Anne of Green Gables.

Happy 4th of July!

How was everyone's weekend?

I was lucky enough to have the 3rd & 4th off... woohoo! Louis and I had a nice time with old friends. I even brought over some of these yummy, patriotic goodies...
Delicious & easy to make!

Patriotic Strawberries
Carton of strawberries
White chocolate
White Sugar
Blue food coloring

Melt your white chocolate in the microwave, for 2 minutes. Stir after a minute.
In another bowl, add a couple of tablespoons of white, granulated sugar. Drip in blue food coloring, about 3 drops. Mix well!
Dip strawberries in white chocolate, letting excess drip off.
Dip the tip of the strawberry in the blue sugar and place on parchment paper to dry.

Today was fun too! I woke up and made oven baked french toast. I stuck with the patriotic theme and added not only blueberries but strawberries too. S'good!!!
All that's left! Just missing the powdered sugar.

We spent the rest of the day at my in law's house for swimming and dinner. We have some yummy blue cheese burgers, potato salad and watermelon. I definitely over indulged but that is ok... it isn't like I do that everyday. :) Anyways, we brought the dogs over and they were pretty cute. Gus even went swimming with me. Bo hates the heat, so he stayed indoors.
Swimming with Gus Gus.

Happy Birthday, America!
