American Idol

Did anyone watch the finale of American Idol last night?

I did but kept switching back and forth between that and the Lightning game.

It was down to two country artists....

Lauren Alaina

Scotty McCreery

I wasn't very happy with the finalists outcome. I think both are outstanding singers and I love country music.  However, both weren't as entertaining as other contestants. I usually just fast forwarded through their performances. It was the same thing each week... Scotty would sing a country song through the side of his microphone and walk around the audience. Lauren would wear a dress and sing a song that wasn't impressive because she already peaked early on.

I also hold a grudge against Scotty. He seemed SO rude when Lady Gaga was mentoring him. Yes, she is different than you. That doesn't mean you kiss your cross necklace after talking with her. Guess what? Jesus loves her too!

OH, OH, OH! Did anyone see what I think I saw? Scotty and Lauren kissing on the mouth after it was announced he won? What the......!

Overall, it was a very entertaining and talented season. Entertaining enough for me to post a blog entry about it. Haha.

What did you think Scotty winning? Did you like this season?

Nice Surprise!

I am doing another post today because I wanted to tell you what happened...

I was talking to my Mom on last Monday morning and asking about certain days she could come visit me. I was so sad because she said she couldn't switch days at work. I am pretty sure she could hear how sad I sounded because she says "What are you doing tonight at 10?". I said "Um, watching tv? I dunno... why?". She replied "Oh, well, can you pick me up at the airport tonight?"

Can you believe that?

So, I picked her up at 10 pm that night and spent all Tuesday with her. We went to the movies, and saw Bridesmaids, which was HILARIOUS. Omg, you have to see it!

It was a short visit but I am so glad she was here. I needed that visit. Sometimes it sucks being up here away from my family. Especially after everything that has happened. Most of my family is in Florida, so it is just hard. Thankfully I have my hubby! :)

Anyways, just wanted to tell you about that. Enjoy the day... I'm off to get my hair trimmed.

Happy Anniversary!

Today, my Husband and I are celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary! We have had a fabulous time celebrating....

As you know, we went to Mackinac Island, Michigan. It was opening weekend on the island so we got an awesome deal on a BEAUTIFUL hotel. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy the first day. The second day was atleast sunny though. Here are some photos so ya'll can see how beautiful everything was.

Biking in the rain. So cold! haha

Beautiful water on our 8 mile bike ride.

Me on top of Fort Mackinac.

This morning, I woke up at 5:45 and made an AWESOME breakfast for Louis. Oven Baked Blueberry French Toast!!

A little bit of powdered sugar + syrup + fresh squeezed orange juice = DELICIOUSNESS!

I thought I'd pass along the recipe incase you want to make it for youself.

Oven Baked Blueberry French Toast
- 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 c granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 c milk
- 10 slices french bread, 3/4 inch thick (preferably homemade or fresh store bought)
- 2 c fresh blueberries
- Maple syrup
- Confectioners sugar, for serving

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

Beat the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large bowl, with a stand mixer on medium speed, until well blended.

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the milk, and mix well.

Arrange the bread in the prepared baking dish, and spread the blueberries on top of the bread. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the bread. Let stand for at least 15 minutes before baking (or cover the pan, and place it in the refrigerator overnight). Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until golden brown.

Serve with maple syrup and confectioners sugar.

Hope evetyone has a wonderful day! :)

Fave Spring Trends.

Hi loves! ♥

I wanted to talk about my favorite makeup trends...

This is the Millie palette Clinique put out. Isn't it just adorable? The coral- pinky blush and gloss is so awesome and looks nice on everyone! And the Millie pouch is so cute.

This lipstick is from Estee Lauder (my arch enemy- ha JK!). Such a vibrant orange but so pretty!

Aren't these bright colors fun? I especially love the electric yellow on the eyes.

I'm also loving the natural look with a little mascara, bronzer and something on your lips. Easy peazy!

What are your favorite makeup trends right now?

Exciting...

Today was such a nice day!

The weather was warm. The sun was shining and I actually had to wear some SPF.

Spring? Are you finally showing your face?

I worked on the garden a little bit. Got some top soil and plants! We are planting banana peppers, red, yellow and green peppers. Eggplant, celery, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, watermelon, corn, lettuce, and broccoli. Cannot wait for some fresh produce!

The rest of the week I am working and then on Friday night we are making our way up to Mackinac Island in Michigan!!! We are celebrating our Anniversary a weekend early since it is the only weekend I could get off.

Ever heard of Mackinac Island, Mi? It is absolutely beautiful! They banned cars or any motorized vehicles from the island a long time ago so the air is so fresh. The only transportation is by bike or horse. Hubby and I are bring our bikes.

I'll def be back with photos :)

WILW

Today I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving that I finally made my appointment to get invisalign on my top teeth. I was just going to do regular braces for up and down. The top teeth are the ones that concern me though and I didn't want to spend so much money for the whole thing. Cannot wait! The appointment is on our wedding anniversary, May 23rd.

I'm loving the sunny weather we are having today! I feel like I haven't seen the sun in I don't know how long. It might not be super warm (50 degrees) but I'll take it!

I'm loving that my Sister and her boyfriend are renting the house across the street from my Mom and Brother. That makes me feel so much better that she will be closer. The past few months have been very tough so I'm glad for such wonderful news!

I'm loving all of the pretty outdoorsy things I bought. I got some solar lights to line the flower bed and walkway out front. I also got some really pretty tiki torches for the backyard that I put around our deck. I am ready for SUMMER!

I'm loving that my bike is all fixed and I can ride whenever I want. I've got a vintage Schwinn and it is so cute!

I'm loving Britney Spears and Fleetwood Mac. I have dance parties in my living room. Don't be jealous...

I'm loving my once a month grief meeting. It makes me feel stronger and lets me know that I don't have to be strong all the time. It is also comforting to know there are other people out there like me. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling with the lose of a loved one.

I'm loving my Dad. Forever and always. I was laughing/crying about our DQ adventures recently. I'll have to save that story for another post.

I'm loving that the Tampa Bay Lightning are beating the crap outta Washington!!! :-D GO BOLTS!
